Ship suppliers head to Korea for global collaboration and exchange with authorities and ship owners

The speech of the Secretary-General of the IMO will be a true highlight

S. Al Malik, ISSA President reflects on why attending ISSA64 Convention and Trade Exhibition next month is crucial for European Ship Suppliers.

The choice of Busan as the venue for this year’s ISSA64 Convention and Trade Exhibition underlines ISSA’s role as a truly international representative organisation for the ship supply sector and preparations for this year’s event have progressed well, with delegates booking as we speak and exhibitors planning their stands for yet another exciting and powerful networking opportunity.
Convention has traditionally been an opportunity for ISSA members and friends to get together and network and this year’s event at the Haeundae Grand Hotel, Busan, Republic of Korea from November 8th and 9th will be no different. But the adjoining conference promises to be one of the best yet with high level speakers agreeing to give up their time to address delegates. The theme of: Future of Ship Suppliers & Services in The 4th Industrial Revolution, is an important and emotive subject and one that will generate good debate.
A highlight of the event will be an address by H.E. Mr. Kitack Lim, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.

The first day will introduce delegates to the importance and positioning of ship supply within the South Korea maritime sphere with key speeches from Mr. Kim Young-Deuk, President of Korea Shipsuppliers and Services Association; Mr. Danny Lien, President of Singapore Association of ShipSuppliers and Services; Moon Seong-Hyeok, Minister of Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries; Byun Seong-wan,Busan Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs; Mr. Nam Ki-Chan, President of Busan Port Authority and Mr. Kim Young-Moo, Vice-President of Korea Ship Owners Association.

Mr. Mark O’Neil, President of Columbia Shipmanagement will also address delegates on the important issue of Digitalisation and the Way Forward for the Shipping Industry.

The second day of debate brings together leading lights such as Capt Vijay Rangroo, Managing Director, MTM Ship Management, Christian Ioannou, Managing Director MCTC Marine, and George Vassiliades, Managing Director, General Procurement Company Limited (GENPRO) to share their views on a future determined and shaped by smart technology and artificial intelligence.
